Where this data comes from

Every series is loaded automatically from official releases. Values are kept exactly as published; only the structure is normalised — unit, frequency and reference period.

  • Office for National Statistics

The UK’s national statistical institute: monthly GDP, CPI and CPIH, the Retail Prices Index, retail sales, the Index of Production and of Services, producer prices, the labour market, productivity, the balance of payments and the public finances.

  • Bank of England

Bank Rate and SONIA, the nominal and index-linked gilt curves, money supply and credit, mortgage rates and approvals, and official sterling exchange rates — daily series reaching back to 1975.

  • HM Revenue & Customs

Overseas Trade Statistics compiled from customs declarations: UK exports and imports of goods by partner country and product, monthly since 2000 — including bilateral trade with Vietnam under the UKVFTA.

  • HM Land Registry

The official UK House Price Index: average prices and indices for the UK, its four countries, the nine English regions and roughly 390 local authorities, by property type, buyer type and funding, with history back to 1968.

  • Elexon and DESNZ

Half-hourly electricity demand and generation by fuel on the GB grid, plus the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s weekly road fuel prices.

  • Nomis

The ONS labour market database: the claimant count by region back to 1971, the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings, gross disposable household income by region, business counts by size and turnover, and the Annual Population Survey — the regional detail the published bulletins leave out.

  • Office of Rail and Road

The rail regulator’s data portal: passenger journeys since 1872, passenger kilometres since 1938, freight moved and lifted by commodity, and the fares index split into regulated and unregulated tickets.

  • Nationwide Building Society

Britain’s longest house price series, back to the fourth quarter of 1952, with regional, property-type, buyer-type and affordability breakdowns. It is a lender’s index built from mortgage approvals, so it leads the official Land Registry measure and does not always agree with it.

  • OECD

Harmonised short-term indicators: the UK share price index and the composite leading, business confidence and consumer confidence indicators — the openly published stand-ins for the FTSE and the PMI, which are both licensed commercially.

  • National Energy System Operator

Half-hourly carbon intensity of the British grid and the share of generation coming from each fuel, published free under the Carbon Intensity API with the University of Oxford.
