About this data
How much each kind of spending counts towards UK inflation, in parts per 1,000 of the basket, every year since 1988. The twelve COICOP divisions are given twice — once on the CPI basket and once on CPIH, which adds owner occupiers' housing costs and council tax and therefore weights everything else a little lighter — and then the six RPI groups, which use a different classification entirely. These are the numbers that turn a price rise in one category into a contribution to the headline rate. Revised each February by the Office for National Statistics.
