Corrections & data update policy

MacroDataHub compiles its figures from the original releases of official agencies. When we find an error, or when a source republishes a figure, we update it and record the change openly, on the principles below.

Publication date and last update

Every data page shows the reference period of its most recent figure and the date the series was last updated, directly beneath the heading. The update date changes whenever the underlying figures are revised or extended.

When the source data is revised

Statistical agencies routinely publish a preliminary figure and revise it in a later release. When a source updates, we update the corresponding number on the data page and show the most recent official value. See our Sources & Methodology for how this works.

When we find an error

If a page carries a wrong figure, a wrong unit or a mislabelled period, we correct it against the agency’s original release and refresh the update date. We do not quietly remove a page to hide a mistake — where an error was material, we say so on the page itself.
