About this data

China's merchandise export turnover broken down by more than 220 countries and regions, on a monthly basis, in USD at FOB prices. Vietnam ranks among the top ten markets, meaning the "Vietnam" series here represents the counterpart to import data from China published by Vietnam Customs—placing them side by side reveals mirror statistical discrepancies between the two countries. Two series warrant close attention: "Taiwan (Other Asia, nes)" is the designation used by Comtrade in place of Taiwan due to the absence of a dedicated code, and the "China" series covers re-imports and re-exports, namely goods leaving and subsequently returning to China's customs territory. Data from January 2015 onward are sourced directly from the inquiry platform of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, updated to the most recently published month; prior periods are drawn from UN Comtrade, with data missing for October 2012 to December 2014 as China did not report monthly figures during that interval. The two sources have been cross-checked over the overlapping 2015-2024 period and match to the third decimal place.
