About this data
The China Government bonds yield curve by trading day, starting from March 2006, is calculated and published by China Central Depository & Clearing Co., Ltd. (ChinaBond) — serving as the benchmark yield set used as a reference across the entire domestic market. The table features three curves across eight maturities ranging from 3 months to 30 years: Government bonds, AAA-rated commercial bank bonds, and AAA-rated medium-term corporate notes. The 10-year Government bonds yield is China's most critical benchmark interest rate and a gauge of long-term growth and inflation expectations; the spread between the 10-year maturity and the 2 to 3-year maturities indicates whether the market expects easing or tightening. The difference between the corporate curve and the Government curve for the same maturity is the credit spread — a measure of risk appetite, which typically widens whenever the market has concerns over real estate debt. The three curves start at three different points in time (Government bonds in March 2006, corporate notes in December 2006, and bank bonds in December 2009), and corporate notes do not feature a 30-year maturity as it is not published by the source.
