The three cuts the BLS publishes of the same Producer Price Index programme: industry-sector indexes for manufacturing, mining, trade, transportation, information and health care; commodity-group indexes running from farm products to transportation equipment; and the service and construction groups that now account for most of the index's weight.

About this data
The three cuts the BLS publishes of the same Producer Price Index programme: industry-sector indexes for manufacturing, mining, trade, transportation, information and health care; commodity-group indexes running from farm products to transportation equipment; and the service and construction groups that now account for most of the index's weight.

- How does PPI differ from CPI?

- The industry view groups output by who produced it, following the NAICS classification. The commodity view groups it by what the product is, regardless of the producing industry.
