About this data

Profits, revenues, and operating costs of above-scale industrial enterprises in China (those with annual main business revenue of 20 million yuan or more), broken down by three economic sectors, four ownership types, and 41 industries. This is China's only monthly corporate PROFIT indicator: all other industrial metrics measure output or prices and do not show whether businesses are profitable, making this the key figure for observing scenarios where output continues to grow while profit margins thin. Figures are cumulative year-to-date rather than standalone monthly data. The National Statistics Office combines January and February, leaving January without an independent data point. Note that ownership categories overlap—a state-holding joint-stock company is counted under multiple categories, making the sum of ownership types exceed the grand total; the three economic sectors do not overlap.
