About this data
The annual average wage of employees in urban non-private sector units in China, broken down by 19 economic industries, is published annually by the National Statistics Office. This serves as the official income benchmark for social security contributions and for comparing labor costs across industries. Previously referred to as 'urban non-private units,' the series was shortened by the statistics office in 2023 to 'urban units'—representing the same continuous series rather than two distinct metrics.
