About this data

Total residential property transaction values each quarter across 15 European countries, beginning in the first quarter of 2006 — reflecting the value dimension of the European housing market. Viewed alongside the transaction volume table, these two tables yield the average value per transacted home, offering a more realistic gauge than the house price index, which holds the property basket constant to measure pure price changes. In France in the first quarter of 2026, 231,775 units changed hands for a total value of 56.5 billion EUR. The table separates newly built homes from existing ones, accompanied by an index (2025=100). The scope limitations are identical to the volume table: it excludes bulk transactions, lacks data for Germany and Italy, and features four countries that publish indices only. Source: Eurostat.
