About this data
How Germany pays, from the Bundesbank payment statistics. Transactions of customers of German payment service providers - credit transfers, direct debits, card payments, cash withdrawals, e-money, cheques and money remittances - by number and value, where each annual figure is the sum of the two half-years. Next to them the infrastructure at year-end: payment cards in circulation by type and function, ATMs and payment terminals. Subtypes such as SEPA instant transfers and contactless payments are subsets of their parent instrument, and cards with several functions are counted in each of them.
