About this data

The German labour market month by month on the two counts that exist side by side: registered unemployment from the employment administration, and unemployment on the ILO labour force concept from the Destatis survey. The two differ by definition and are not interchangeable. Employment, vacancies and short-time work are shown seasonally adjusted and unadjusted, with the West and East German split kept separate. The Federal Employment Agency's own monthly figures add employees in marginal employment, underemployment excluding short-time work and the inflow of reported vacancies; its employment statistics are published with a six-month lag.
