About this data
The indicators that show where the German economy is heading between two GDP releases. The Bundesbank Weekly Activity Index condenses high-frequency data into the growth rate of economic activity over the latest 13 weeks against the 13 weeks before. Next to it are three of the raw signals behind such nowcasts: the truck toll mileage index that Destatis derives from the motorway toll system, realised electricity consumption, and the weekly number of ships leaving Hamburg and Bremerhaven from the Kiel Trade Indicator.
