About this data
German inflation measured both ways. The national consumer price index is the index German contracts and pensions are indexed to; the harmonised index is the one the ECB targets and the only one comparable across the euro area. They use different baskets and treat owner-occupied housing differently, so they do not have to agree - and the gap between them is itself worth reading. Both are shown unadjusted and seasonally adjusted, with core measures and annual rates.
